ILLUSTRATED LOVE: REVISITED
“Wherefore the Lord said, forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men.” (Isaiah 2913).
The Holy Spirit has taken residence in heart and has taken custody of my soul! I will confess with my mouth and my heart that I truly love the Lord! Also, I will extend my hands in love to those who the Lord guides me to. I believe in God’s divine Word; and I pray in the name of Jesus. I seek the assistance of the Holy Spirit for guidance. I gave my heart and my life to Christ. I put all my trust in the Lord. I am consumed by the Holy Spirit. Most importantly, I really love and welcome God’s presence in my heart! I pray that the Lord will never withdraw himself from me. According to the Word of God, this is the spiritual mandate all Christians are called to attain in Christ. I believe all who truly trust in the Lord will follow his instructions in love and display his example of Illustrated Love.
“This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.” (John 13:34). Jesus Christ our Lord “Illustrated Love” when he stretched out his arms and died on Calvary! Christ gave his life that we may live with our Heavenly Father and have everlasting life. How is it then, there is so much division, jealousy, hypocrisy and contention among Christians? We are called to be the salt of the earth! “Ye are salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to cast out and to be trodden under foot of men”. (Matthew 5:13). Have we become good for nothing and just give God lip service and deny the Lord our heart? Where is the Illustrated Love that the Lord requires? “He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
Please indulge me a few more moments… don’t stop reading or block me or unfriend me…hear me out brother and sisters. Illustrated Love is love in action, it is not lip service. Sometimes saying “Amen” is not enough. There must be an Illustrated Love after the “Amen”. God wants more than an “Amen!” An “Amen” without works is good for nothing. “Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works.” (James 2:18). God wants us to illustrate to him that we love him by obeying him and doing his will. Many keep the form of religion, but they withhold the Illustrated Love. The outward expression of love for God, is denied by neglecting to do what is holy and righteous! Yes, we gather into the church buildings and say “Amen!” However, many rarely do more than say “Amen!” God wants more than lip service, he wants your heart. He wants our Illustrated Love!
How many of us are holding someone’s blessings because we don’t want to illustrate love, or we are afraid they may receive more than us? God has blessed us so that we can bless others. But we keep our hands balled up in a knot because we don’t want to release other people’s blessings. Many are afraid that someone will have a little more than them or receive more recognition or praise! How selfish and sad and ungodly are the saints who do such as act! Someone maybe holding on to an old car that they never drive. It is someone’s blessing. What about those clothes you will never lose weight to wear again!! It is not only about our second- hand possessions that God wants us to release, but also a job reference, a preaching invitation, or a room for rent. Illustrated Love is expressed in countless ways, but many will continue to be selfish and only give lip service. God wants us to show up in LOVE, in his name! Have you supported someone’s ministry or cause for spreading the Word of God. Now, I am quite aware the of the scammers and the liars on Facebook, so I say to that “Beware!” However, there some legitimate ministries that God has touched your heart to engage in and you refuse. The Holy Spirit will lead you to share and support the right ministry, if you truly trust the Holy Spirit. Get busy saints, we are working for the kingdom of God!
Here’s a confession…when I first joined Facebook I wanted to sell my book, “My Journey to Patmos”, which I still believe is a great and timeless book. But I was frowned upon and many unfriend me or blocked me because I was asking for Illustrated Love. I was devastated because I believed that my brothers and sisters would help me spread the Gospel, but only a few people on Facebook ordered my book. Some are still supportive, and I say “thank you” to them. There were all these “Amens!” and “God bless you!”, but no Illustrated Love. I was reaching out for my Christian family’s support! I was not trying to deceive anybody, I was simply trying send a book of healing and encouragement to those who felt as lost as I once did. Afterward, the Lord spoke to me and asked me to be his Scribe and write for him on Facebook and other media venues. I accepted his offer, and I now show my Illustrated Love by writing Christian articles and sharing posts to people I do not know because the Lord asked me too! The reward I receive for illustrating love, is knowing so many souls are being comforted, encouraged and counseled and healed. I started on Facebook with one purpose, to advertise a Christian book, but the Holy Spirit changed my intent. I am now responding to God’s will and exercising Illustrated Love! It is my joy to serve the Lord with my whole heart!
Jesus is God’s Illustrated Love. Jesus is God’s sermon to the world. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). Because Jesus Illustrated Love, God said, “This is my son whom I am well pleased!” Because Jesus loves his Father, and his heart is in God, he is now seated at the right hand of the Father in Heaven.
It is time for the Church to stop giving lip service and start really loving God in Spirit and in Truth! Illustrated Love is what the Lord requires. Show God that you love him and show your brothers and sisters that you love them. For God sake, after the lip service, show an Illustrated Love! God bless you and keep the peace of God in your heart!
For the record this is written for all who profess to be doers of the Word of God. Go ye therefore and illustrate that you are indeed a child of the Most-High God! God bless you and Amen!
